In a spirited celebration of art and advocacy, the Philippine Alliance of Human Rights Advocates (PAHRA) hosted a Human Rights Music Festival on December 6, 2024, just four days before Human Rights Day. The event, held at The TakeOver Lounge in Quezon City, brought together youth advocates, human rights defenders, and music enthusiasts in a resounding call for justice, dignity, and an end to political dynasties.

Featuring iconic OPM acts like Dilaw, Ang Bandang Shirley, Alyson, Uncle Bob's Funky Seven Club, Ja Quintana, Bita And The Botflies, and Acoustic Project, the festival fused music and advocacy to push a clear message: "The government must prioritize human rights over petty squabbles rooted in family dynasties," said Fae Taroc, Campaigns Support Officer of PAHRA.

Taroc emphasized the urgency of the issue, stating, "When dynasties prioritize fighting other dynasties, our human rights are caught in the middle of the crossfire. Our rights are pushed to the side, neglected, and overshadowed by their self-serving agendas."

She further declared, "This music festival is not just a celebration—it’s a demand. We are here to say that human rights must always come first. The fight against inequality and abuse will not wait for dynasties to resolve their feuds. Our rights are not bargaining chips for their power struggles.”

The event, which attracted more than a hundred youth advocates from Metro Manila and nearby provinces, stands as a testament to the power of solidarity and collective action in advancing human rights.

As Human Rights Day approaches, PAHRA continues to call on all Filipinos to reject political dynasties and uphold the principles of justice, accountability, and the protection of human dignity.
